About Me

Hi, I'm Ferg, a father of 5 kids aged 6 - 16. I have a full-time day job, and in addition to family life; I draw, coach sports, love shooting hoops, lego, playing boardgames with the family and having a laugh.

Why I wrote BeTheDad:

My wife and I were leading a new parents group and as I was sharing tips from parenting our family, some of the parents commented 'you should put this into a book'.

So I started writing a blog aimed at Dad's, adding pictures and bullet points to make it simple, interesting, and easy to apply. 

​About a year later a soldier from the Australian Army  wrote me saying 'BeTheDad' had saved his marriage! When I excitedly told my family about this, my mother-in-law Betsy encouraged me to make the blog into a book and offered to edit it for me. Months later after she finished the edit, Betsy told me 'you need to get this out to men, they need to hear this'. 

This was one of the last things Betsy said to me as she passed away unexpectedly in the days that followed. I made it my mission is to do just that, to get it out to help as many Dads as possible.
